Principal's Message

Dear Quiet Waters Elementary Families,

It is with great pride and excitement that I introduce myself as the new principal of Quiet Waters Elementary School. I am honored to join this incredible community and look forward to partnering with our students, families, staff, and community members as we begin an exciting new chapter together.

At Quiet Waters Elementary, we believe that every child deserves an exceptional educational experience in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment. Our commitment extends beyond academic achievement—we are dedicated to developing confident, compassionate, and independent learners who are excited to come to school each day.

Building strong relationships with our families is one of my highest priorities. Outstanding customer service is not simply an expectation—it is a commitment. Every interaction matters, and we strive to ensure that all families feel valued, respected, heard, and supported. Together, we will foster a school culture built on trust, open communication, and collaboration.

As we move into this next chapter, our focus is on leveling up in every aspect of our school. That means continuing to celebrate the many strengths that make Quiet Waters special while embracing opportunities for growth and innovation. We will maintain high expectations for ourselves and for one another because excellence is achieved when every stakeholder—students, staff, families, and community members—works together toward a shared vision.

Our students are capable of remarkable things, and we are committed to providing the instruction, encouragement, and opportunities they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

I am truly excited to become a part of the Quiet Waters family and look forward to getting to know each of you. Thank you for entrusting us with your children. Happy New “School” Year!

QWE Families, there are many new things this year, starting with our leadership team. We have an amazing new Principal, Mr. Luke Balchaitis and an awesome new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Michele Matias! Let’s make them feel welcome and offer them the collaboration and support needed to have a successful year.

Although the leadership is new, some things will never change. We will continue to believe in the capabilities of our students and offer the best educational experience. Our theme this year is Level Up. To me, that means that we simply follow the signature line at the end of my emails. We go from good to better and from better to the best. With your support and feedback as the QWE community, we will do just that. Please know that we consider you to be our thought partners. Help us to create the type of school you can be proud of. Not only will we continue traditions like the Pumpkin Patch Parade, but we want to go from just being a good school to the BEST school. That takes all of us to hold education and student success to the highest standard. We will “level up” in our preparation as a staff for your children. That means we will collaborate more with colleagues and experts within our district to develop and deliver lessons that foster critical thinking and problem solving. We will allow students to share their processes and creativity on a larger scale. We will examine test results to determine which areas need to be addressed and what measures we’ll take to close gaps. We will “level up” in our methods of communication with you by keeping you abreast of all pertinent information regarding your child’s educational and social needs.

Level Up is the perfect theme because it puts a demand on every aspect of how we show up as a team to provide a stellar experience for our community. I’m ready for the challenge. I am thrilled and honored to join the Quiet Waters Elementary School community as Intern Principal. As I enter my 20th year in education, I bring a passion for student success, relationship-building, and creating positive learning environments where all students can thrive. Throughout most of my career, I have proudly served students and families in the Pompano Beach and Deerfield Beach communities of Broward County. I am excited to begin this new chapter at Quiet Waters Elementary and look forward to learning, growing, and becoming an active part of this incredible school community alongside our dedicated teachers, staff, students, and families.

I believe every child deserves a high-quality education that builds a strong foundation for future success and prepares them to confidently transition to middle school and beyond. My goal is to create meaningful and lasting partnerships with students, families, and staff while fostering a supportive environment where every child feels valued, challenged, and empowered to reach their full potential. I am committed to helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally as we embrace this year's theme, "Leveling Up." I am truly excited for the school year ahead and look forward to partnering with our families as we celebrate achievements, overcome challenges, and ensure that every child has a successful and rewarding experience at Quiet Waters Elementary.
