Clubs and organizations are a great way to help develop character and the skills that will benefit you in school, your career, and in life. Skills like commitment, leadership, effective communication, and being able to work successfully in a group all come from participating in a club or organization. Joining a club is a great way to make friends, develop leadership skills, and boost your college resume.
Speech & Debate is an after-school club that is offered to 4th and 5th grade students. In this club, students learn effective communication and debate skills, which are put to the test in a quarterly district-wide debate tournament.
The Robotics Team at Quiet Waters Elementary makes use of the VexIQ and VexGO programs. Participation on the Robotics Team familiarizes students with programming, sensors, and automation. They hone critical computational thinking skills needed to succeed in both the 21st century's workforce and in everyday life. Beyond science and engineering principles, the Robotics Team encourages creativity, teamwork, leadership, passion, and problem-solving among groups. Membership on the Robotics Team allows students to practice the engineering design process, identify multiple solutions to problems, and find the best possible solution through repeated trial and modifications.
The Robotics Team is open to 4th and 5th grade students. There is an application with tryouts necessary to determine the team's makeup. The Robotics Team meets at least twice per week during competition season, after school until 3:30pm.
SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) Promise Clubs provide an opportunity for our fourth and fifth grade students to show their leadership, creativity, and passion for protecting their friends, schools, and communities from violence BEFORE it happens. In every school and community nationwide, there are young people who suffer silently because they feel left out, alone, or invisible. Those who are isolated can become victims of bullying, violence, and/or depression. The SAVE Promise Club helps students recognize the unique role students themselves play in making their schools and communities safer by teaching them leadership skills and how to mentor their peers.
Our Student Council consists of class representatives from our third, fourth, and fifth grade classes. Students are elected to this position by their peers and attend meetings every other week. We participate in activities that help build leadership skills, encourage members of the community, and increase school morale. Student Council advisors: Ms. Loy, and Mrs. Burger
The QWE Morning Show broadcasts each weekday morning. The student lead program consists of 5th grade students who share daily the school news, highlights, and laughter with the student body.
Quiet Waters Elementary Safety Patrols are an exceptional group of young leaders. Patrols are highly selected and recommended by their homeroom teacher to represent high standards both during and after school hours. Students are introduced to strategic leadership styles that lend themselves to enhancing our school's morals, values, and student relationships.
